What's the Best Leather iPad 9.7 Case?
Leaders in the entertainment, financial, real estate and medical industries have voted the MacCase Premium Leather iPad 9.7 Folio their leather iPad 9.7 case of choice.
Like all our Premium Leather iPad models, our executive folio features a quality unmatched in the industry. A real sense of care in the manufacture goes into each piece.
Pieces made from our distressed vintage hides are truly "one of one" or one of a kind, due to the unique tanning of the vintage leather. Each area of the hide is slightly different containing different amounts of oils, marks and details.
When the panels are cut for sewing, no two pieces of the same panel have the same finish. This yields a uniqueness to each and every Vintage model ensuring no two of our Premium Leather iPad cases or covers are alike.
Whether you chose vintage or black, timeless, professional design of exquisite taste is standard. Are we a bit obsessive in our attention to detail on this leather case? Dose the white stitching on the arced panels of the front and rear covers have to be so perfect? Do we need to triple dye the black interior thread? It disappears when it’s sewn to our black ultra suede liner, leaving you with nothing but screen.
You don’t become the defacto leather iPad 9.7 case for business by cutting corners. Customers choose our quality leather iPad Folios because they want a professional case that just as good as the product it's designed to carry.
The Premium Leather iPad Case by MacCase - Product Review by MacSources
There is no denying that my iPad is my favorite Apple device. I take it with me everywhere and use it frequently both for personal and professional use. I am definitely the target market for this device. In addition to enjoying my apple products, I am also fiercely protective of them.
I understand that the iPhone 5 is built to sustain everyday use. I still wanted to secure it with a case. I have felt the same way about my iPad since the day I received it as a gift. It has rarely been in my hands without some sort of covering around it.
I have tried out different keyboard cases when I need to write for extended periods of time. For everyday use though, a simple, secure, stylish case it what I want. I recently became aware of MacCase, a company that specializes in creating cases for Apple products that have form and function working for the user.
MacCase started in 1999 with the creation of a portable laptop case for the original Tangerine iBook. Like the iBook itself, the MacCase laptop bag was colorful and different. MacCase still offers unique, stylish products. Chief Creative Officer Michael Santoro has taken inspiration from many sources including automobiles and aircraft interiors.
The company remains dedicated to Apple customers and committed to creating premium, industry leading products specifically for them. The MacCase Collection is their newest line and includes premium leather iPad cases and covers, laptop sleeves, flight jackets and shoulder bags.
The Premium iPad 9.7 Case
A part of the MacCase Premium Leather Collection, the iPad Folio is a genuine work of art. Built from the highest quality hides, (textured or distressed) it has white stitching across the product. The frame of the folio is a custom stamped and welded alloyed steel. It ensures that the iPad will fit perfectly and stay secure within the case.
The interior of it is black suede, which provides protection from scratches. The interior frame does not obstruct the touch screen at all. There is an interior flap that holds the iPad securely in place. The Folio features Smart Cover technology.
It will automatically wake the iPad when the case is opened or send it into sleep mode when closed. The high quality magnets make the cover closure both secure and elegant. The folio easily folds to allow for easy screen typing or movie watching.
One of the most advanced features of the Folio is the ‘SoundBoard’ speaker enhancement. There is a hard leather insert inside the cover near the iPad speaker. This bounces sounds away from the case and towards the user. This increases the fidelity and allows the use of lower volumes, thus saving battery life.
A Quality iPad 9.7 Case
The Folio, as I stated earlier, is a true work of art. The handmade quality is unmatched and I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The leather is beautiful. I have long been a fan of the ‘distressed’ leather look. I was highly impressed when I took this piece out of the box.
Most cases I’ve seen, even other leather ones, don’t have the kind of detail that this one does. The MacCase logo is embossed into the leather on the front, while Michael Santoro’s signature is on the back. The spine of the folio features the word ‘MacCase’ on it, which I feel is a nice branding touch.
Even without the tablet in it, the folio feels sturdy. I have seen so many cases that sacrifice security for style, but MacCase does not. This leather iPad case is, in my opinion, the perfect combination of elegance and safety for the iPad. The SoundBoard feature is a great addition. I have seen something similar with many newer cases on the market. But the MacCase SoundBoard speaker enhancement is there despite being hidden.
Excellent Value in a iPad 9.7 Case
It’s great because it means I don’t have to cup my hand around the speaker to hear the audio. I can simply watch and listen to my favorite movies and TV shows without needing additional equipment or speaker assistance. The MacCase Folio is an overall great piece. It’s got fantastic style while maintaining functionality. Pictures really don’t do it justice. You just can’t appreciate the iPad Folio until you hold it in your own hands.
The MacCase iPad Folio is available for the iPad Air ($149.95) and iPad 9.7. With the exceptional quality of this case, one would expect that it would cost much more than it does. One of the first cases I bought for my Apple tablet cost about $15.
It was flimsy and I’ll be honest, I didn’t feel as though it protected my iPad very well. It was better than a naked iPad, but only by a little. This case is well worth the purchase price. There are many high-end leather pieces that go for thousands of dollars and aren’t as well built as the Folio.
iPad 9.7 Leather Case with Pencil Holder - Behind the Design
The latest in a series of interviews about the story behind the design of MacCase products.
For this interview, we are speaking to MacCase President and Chief Creative Officer Michael Santoro about the company's new iPad 9.7 leather case.
Jody: As the iPad case market continues to mature, what is your motivation? Where do you see things going?
MS: Let's face it, there are a lot of iPad cases available. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the vast majority of them are landfill waiting to happen. They are poorly designed, poor engineered and poorly manufactured to last a very limited amount of time before ultimately breaking and tossed away.
I can tell you right now that the Premium Leather iPad Pro 9.7 Folio case is about as far way from those cases as you can get. With many of these cheap, craptastic cases starting around $10 you going to need to be pretty special if your MSRP is $149.95.
Holding Your 9.7 iPad in the Case
JKD: So what makes this leather iPad Pro 9.7 Folio case so special?
MS: Let's start with the heart of the case, the frame. The frame is where the tablet interacts with the case and where you interact with the tablet. It is the single most important part of the entire design.
Before any hides are picked or anything is sewn together, a great deal of time, money and energy is spent on developing the frame. In the case of the 9.7 model, a brand new frame was designed, engineered, built and tested. It worked flawlessly and was then discarded. Yup.
A few customers who purchased the 12.9 Folio called and wrote in to tell us that they could not access the Control and Notification centers when the iPad was in horizontal or landscape mode. We tested it and it was true. In order to access these controls you need to be able to touch an area in the black bezel just off the actual screen. When in the horizontal position, our frame blocked this area.
This realization was made just as the new tooling for the new frame for the 9.7 was being completed. So, while it did work perfectly, it was immediately scraped for a new design which allowed the access to these areas in the bezel. Was it expensive to have to go back and remake all the tooling to make the frame? You bet it was. Was it going to delay the production of the new leather iPad Pro 9.7 Folio case. Yes.
JKD: Are these the types of things you do when you are trying to build the highest quality iPad case?
If the frame is not designed, engineered and built perfectly, it doesn't matter how soft the hides are or how well they are sewn together. The frame is stamped from a single sheet of alloyed steel.
It's then folded and welded to a very tight specification to insure it not only holds Apple's newest tablet in place but that you have access to all the ports and controls. Even if only a small percentage want access to all the ports and controls.
We know our designs cannot be everything to everyone, but that does not mean you ignore something that can be improved through a little more work and cost. The frame has to be strong.
If you've ever purchased a snap in plastic case for an iPad, you've learned that after a short time the corners develop cracks and eventually break off offering no protection for the most vulnerable areas. In essence, you've wasted your money.
Having this new lightweight, yet amazing strong, stamped steel frame securing your iPad vs. a cheap plastic frame is the difference between driving a Bentley to get somewhere vs. donning a pair of cheap, ill fitting plastic roller skates. At MacCase, we always remember, you bought the world's most expensive tablet computer. We design our cases accordingly.
iPad 9.7 Case with Pencil Holder
JKD: This is a 9.7 leather case with a Pencil holder. Tell us about that?
MS: The new frame is complimented by our integrated Apple Pencil holder pocket. Customers who have searched the internet for the best pencil storage solution have told us that the MacCase pencil holder solution is the best from any manufacturer at any price.
The 9.7 case with pencil holder overall is smaller than it's 12.9 big brother, but the Pencil pocket is the same size on both cases. Therefore, the Pencil holder takes on a much more prominent visual role with the leather iPad Pro 9.7 Folio case.
Materials and colors will be the same for the 9.7 as the other Folios in the Premium Leather Collection. Our authentic, distressed Vintage hides, as beautiful as ever, will make up the majority of the first production run. The Vintage is complimented by our pebble grain, satin Black for customers who prefer a more classic looking case.
9.7 iPad Pro and the current iPad Air are the same form factor. This means the overall size and shape of the two tablets are the same. Given this, we will use one design for both tablets.
The Folio will accommodate the details of both tablets. iPad Air owners looking for the best in a folio style case will benefit from all the innovation and improvements made for the 9.7 as one design ail work for both model.
