Our Sleeves are handmade from ethically sourced leather and used by professionals worldwide. These Sleeves for 12.9-inch, 12.9-inch with Magic Keyboard, 11-inch and 10.9 Apple tablets stand defiantly against the sea of the low quality, poorly engineered options offered elsewhere. Designed in California, assembled one at a time by third-generation leather artisans, every part has the heart and soul of its creator imbued into it.
Whether you read the customer reviews on our site or others, on our blog or others, in print magazines or their digital cousins, the verdict is the same. We set out to design and build the best iPad Pro Sleeveand based on the feedback we are happy to say we think we achieved that goal.
Whether you're looking for a sleeve to protect your 12.9 alone or with a smart cover or Magic Keyboard, MacCase has a solution for you. And if an Apple Pencil is part of your device collection, we've got them covered too.
Our choice of premium, ethically sourced leather hides, our unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and design and our industry-leading customer service are just part of the equation that sets our Apple-specific tablet covers apart.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…… Oh wait, that's a different story. Way back when the internet was still searched by Netscape Navigator or AOL (kids, ask your parents), MacCase created a briefcase for the original clamshell iBook. It took off and was a big hit.
The very next product we designed and brought to market was a Sleeve for the Powerbook. They were deceptively simple in appearance but protected like an armored car parked in a bank vault. MacCase had a second hit on its hands.
Our designs are different from other manufacturers through our use of how we layer the materials. Even Apple's sleeve just uses a sheet of leather and that's about it. No padding and no closure. Not very protective.
Each layer of material we use to construct our designs serves a purpose as does each element and detail. When you have been making slipcases like this to protect portable hardware for as long as we have, you learn a lot of things. One major thing that we have learned is that our designs work.
The Best Sleeve for iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard
Recently we set out to create the best sleeve for the iPad Pro 12.9 with a Magic Keyboard. The Magic Keyboard makes a very large tablet even larger. While it's a nice typing tool, it offers very little protection for the actual tablet when you want to move or store it. That's where our Magic Keyboard sleeves for Pad Pro 12.9 comes in.
While the Magic Keyboard Sleeve is our latest model, our sleeve designs didn't start there. A sleeve was the 2nd MacCase model ever created way back in 1998.
Our original Apple tablet sleeve featured a first-ever magnetic closure for the flap. The solid-state flash memory allowed for the introduction of magnets whereas magnets could negatively affect the old-school hard drives of Apple's laptops. This innovative and elegant use of magnetics has made its way to the Magic Keyboard Sleeve as well.
On the black version, we used a dual texture theme combining a smooth leather center stripe with our classic pebble grain hide. It was a very handsome combination.
Paired with our dual-textured black version was the enduring beauty and charm of our distressed vintage hides. Attempts at copying this wonderful leather are often made and often fail spectacularly. Customers love the way it patinas in over time. When it came time to design a sleeve for iPad Pro, we made sure our Vintage hide was part of the program.
With over 20 years of sleeve design experience, we have come to know what customers are looking for in how their slipcases fit. When Apple released the Magic Keyboard for the 12.9-inch tablet, the accessory added about a half-inch to the overall width of the iPad Pro.
This facilitated the need for a new model specifically designed to store and transport the tablet and the Magic Keyboard. Beauty and timelessness speak for themselves.
iPad Pro 12.9 Sleeve with Pencil Holder
The hallmark feature of the new iPad 12.9-inch Sleeve is the centrally located pocket for the Apple Pencil or similar stylist. We wanted to highlight the pencil pocket so contrasting white thread is used around this area.
The Pencil, once placed into the pocket is kept safe and secure, unlike so many other Pro cases that leave the $100 Apple Pencil dangling on the outside of the case or sliding into some exterior pen loop. The Pencil holder on the new sleeve is completely padded and lined. The same vertical center stripe is mirrored on the rear panel to tie the design together, complimented by very subtle branding.
Why did we go through all the trouble to create a pencil holder that was integrated into our sleeve design vs. just adding a pen loop to the exterior surface? MacCase has represented the best in Apple portable protection for 25 years. We didn't gain this reputation by choosing the easiest or cheapest solution. Far from it.
By integrating the pencil holder into the iPad Pro sleeve body design, we offer a solution that customers really want in their protection products: PROTECTION! Our pencil holder is centrally located under the main flap. When you close the flap on the main compartment holding your tablet, you are also closing the flap on the pencil pocket as well. This kind of innovative thinking is what makes MacCase special.
iPad Pro 12.9-inch Sleeve: Proven Protection
When the Premium Leather Collection was created, the sleeve design migrated to the leather line as well. With the release of the original Apple tablet, customers began to ask for a sleeve to store, protect and transport them in. MacCase saw this as a chance to shake up our sleeve design a bit.
One of the best features about our new leather 11-inch or 12.9-inch Sleeve is how feature-rich the design is even if it appears deceptively simple upon first glance. Sleeves should be designed to protect the hardware first.
That is the primary goal. This has always been the primary goal for our Sleeve designs here at MacCase. We were very good at it when we started and have only gotten better as the years have passed. We often refer to our designs as the gold standard, meaning they are the standard by which all others are judged. Apple's own slipcase is $40 more expensive, a lot less protective and uses much more delicate and easily damaged leather.
We achieve this through the use of higher-quality foams sandwiched between an ultra-soft interior liner and a tough-as-nails exterior hide. We use top-grain and full-grain ethically sourced leather for all our products. Many case and bag manufacturers use what's called "bonded leather" for their products.
This is nothing more than scrap bits of leather mixed with scrap bits of vinyl mixed with a bonding paste to create a film. The film is left to dry and the panels to make the bags are cut from this. Bonded leather lacks the smell and "hand" of real hides. Real hides are all we use at MacCase.
We started MacCase Premium Leather in 2007. Many of those original pieces are still being used by their owners today, a decade later. That's quality. The kind of quality that provides the long-term protection you are looking for. There is both quality in the overall design and in the details.
iPad Pro 11-inch Sleeve: Creating the Best
When it came time to design an iPad Pro 11-inch sleeve, we were at a crossroads. Do we follow the design vocabulary of the laptop sleeves with our signature window, do we do something that more closely aligned the new case with the tablet model we already had, or go off in a new direction altogether?
Well, form follows function or in this case, form is function and the need for a place to store the Apple Pencil or similar stylist suggested a vertical pocket that could be integrated into the overall design of the case.
The best 11-inch sleeve for Apple's smallest Pro tablet also needed to protect and be easy to get the tablet in and out of. We know our hides are tough. We know the way we layer our materials provides outstanding long term protection for all the hardware we aspire to protect. We know our perimeter bumper pipping will absorb impacts along the edges. We took this 25 years worth of knowledge and applied it.
When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, the new sleeves looked very similar to the original sleeve we did for Apple's original tablet. This was not intentional. The MacCase design aesthetic is based on timelessness. We strive for this in every design we do. It's not an easy thing to pull off time and time again but we do our best.
Sleeve Design Details
Details like our perimeter bumper pipping help absorb the small impacts of everyday life so they never reach the edge of your tablet. A simple and elegant magnetic closure system secures the flap preventing the tablet from ever falling out and preventing contaminants from getting inside. All of these features can be found on each of our 10.5, 10.9, 11 and 12.9 models.
The visual theme of the new Sleeve is built around the center pocket to hold the Apple Pencil or similar stylist. The new design vocabulary not only provides outstanding, proven protection for your Apple tablet but also for its stylist sidekick.
At MacCase, we would not have it any other way. Feedback from customers often starts with a mention of how they love the integrated Pencil holder. How it's the best solution offered by any manufacturer for protecting the Apple Pencil.
At MacCase, our slipcases are a symbol of our 25+ year commitment to building the Pinnacle of Apple Portable Protection. These products have proven how well they protect. The attention to detail is unparalleled. Our hides are world-class to match the build quality. Why are we so meticulous and obsessive about something as simple as a slipcase for a tablet computer? It's our passion. We love this stuff!
