MacCase Sleeve Design Principles
No Zippers Ever
Every MacCase sleeve (leather and nylon) uses a zipperless closure. Zippers scratch. The zipper teeth on a standard sleeve contact the laptop or tablet's finish every time the device is inserted or removed. Over months of daily use, that contact leaves marks. MacCase has never used a zipper on a sleeve. The leather iPad sleeves use a silent dual magnetic closure while the MacBook models use a color matched hook and loop closure. The nylon sleeves use an open-top design that allows easy insertion and removal.
Perimeter Bumper Protection
The edges and corners of a laptop or tablet are the most vulnerable points. They are the first to contact a surface in a drop, the first to show damage from impact. Every MacCase leather sleeve features air-filled tubular perimeter bumper piping along every edge and at every corner. The nylon sleeves use high-impact seam tape at the perimeter. Both systems absorb and dissipate impact energy at the points where it is most likely to occur.
Layered Interior Construction
MacCase sleeves use a layered interior construction: the outer material, a layer of high-density foam, and a soft interior liner, poly-suede in the leather models, velvet in the nylon models, that will not harm the device's finish. This construction method has been used without incident for over 28 years. The interior liner is the only surface that contacts the device. It does not scratch, mark, or abrade the laptop or tablet finish under any normal use condition.

"In 1998, The second product I ever designed for MacCase was a sleeve. I migrated our signature Apple logo window (from the original iBook case) to our nylon PowerBook sleeve and they went on to become the top selling Apple-specific sleeve at Tier 1 retailer CompUSA for the last 3 years they were operational. The window design is still in production and still winning over new customers allowing the Apple logo in the laptop cover to become part of the design. What is the horizontal vs vertical orientation on the nylon MacBook sleeve?
