Excellent case

Purchased the 13" iPad Pro M5 case with black pebble grain and black thread color. I did not have to think much about this purchase, since I also bought a similar case for a 13" iPad Pro v.2 almost 8 years ago. The old case is still in excellent condition and looks like new (no discoloration, no scratches, no damage). So, I figured out that it is worth the money, especially if planning to keep the iPad for a long time.

The new case is of the same quality as the old one. It is simply excellent. The leather is of the highest quality (thick with flawless graining) and the stitching is exceptional. Overall, the case looks professional and feels luxurious to the touch. The iPad fits amazingly well inside a beautifully designed transparent tray which keeps it securely attached to the case. This also allows a strong magnetic grip for the pencil which is hidden when the case is closed due to the offset design. The on/off feature is very convenient and works very well. For these reasons, I give the case five stars.

However, there are two issues I would like to mention. One issue is that the friction between the interior lining and the edge of the holding tray allows for continuous viewing angle adjustability. However, this becomes unstable when the bottom of the screen is within 6cm from the edge of the cover and the top of the iPad is slightly tapped, limiting the viewing angles that the case can accommodate. The provided video shows adjustability very close to the edge, but I think this is misleading, at least for the case I received. The description also mentions "70-degree viewing angle adjustability with 2 hard stops" but I could not find the hard stops.

The second issue has to do with the color of stitching. The standard price of $180 is for contrasting white stitching only. However, the black leather case looks much more elegant with black stitching. This adds to the price another $60, since this can only be done if you place a custom order. This price increase for changing the stitching from white to black is excessive in my opinion.

We have spoken to John and are going to replace the case for him. His case was created as part of our Custom Program and is missing a key feature that should have been included as part of the build.

Regarding the cost of the custom case, typically, customers who order a custom piece choose from non-standard leathers such as vintage gray, red, or purple, along with contrasting stitching in colors like tan or white. They often personalize their cases with their monogram or company logo. While John's build is very close to the production version of the case, we are crafting a single piece according to his specifications. It still needs to be made in our Custom Studio.

Our minimum production run for any style is 50 pieces. If we create fewer than that, the costs increase significantly. Therefore, the cost to build John's case with black thread is the same as it would be for someone who wants a more elaborate design with non-standard options and colors.

I Like It!

I've been using my case since they arrived at MacCase. I love the color of leather, and I love the real feel of the leather because I'm allergic to so many cases. It was pretty stiff when it arrived but is much easier to get it in the positions I want after using it a while. I know the inside of the cover is synthetic, and it's to protect my screen, but I do have to keep my hands away from it except for a very short time. I had a Zagg screen protector on my iPad (because I have one on all of my devices and the case didn't arrive for a while after I purchased the iPad. I believe the screen protector makes it a little thicker and the silicone that goes around the edge of the iPad by the volume buttons just doesn't quite fit. I rarely use those buttons, so it's not a big issue, but I do wish that the silicone fit snugly all around it properly. I would guess their cover is supposed to be the screen protector, but that just isn't enough protection, for an expensive iPad, when I am very klutzy and things happen. There is good access for charging/headphones. I can hear through the speakers, no blockage there. The leather shows it's been used after a while but I think it looks good anyway. I like the pencil holder, but I don't use the other accessories as much. I really like this case!

Worth the Money!

Its a beautiful IPad Pro case. The quality is outstanding. Stylish yet offers the necessary protection. The casing that holds the iPad in place is solid.
