Meet Our Paper Holders
Every once in a while we'd get a phone call here at MacCase. A customer or potential customer would say they're thinking of purchasing one of our Premium Leather Folios or was already an owner of one and wanted to know if there was a way to store or carry papers or documents in the Folio.
Most wanted to carry them on the inside, in a folder type pocket. The problem with this idea was it would have interfered with the auto on/ off smart cover feature, rendering it inoperable. It would also eliminate the ability for the cover of the Folio to "stick" to the frame when closed. This feature was important because it protected the screen when the iPad was not in use.
But we never lost sight of the fact that customers wanted a place to store papers and carry them with their iPad Pros.
Magnets to the Rescue
With the introduction of a new series of iPad Pro Folio designs, MacCase took the opportunity to re-invent "on case" storage. We're pretty good at this inventing and re-inventing thing and never lost interest in solving this problem. But it had to be done in the right way, in the MacCase way.
Other manufactures have taken to putting a storage sleeve os some kind on the inside cover of the Folio. This has many negative repercussions. One being, it interferes with the magnets in the cover which hold the cover to the screen when the tablet is not in use.
So because your cover doesn't stay closed, you need to add a strap of some kind to keep the cover closed. What happens to the strap when the case is open and being used? There are other issues and each detracts from the overall professionalism and elegance of the case. Again, not the MacCase way.
The powerful magnets that were part of the Folio front cover design would be strong enough to hold a small stack of pages. The problem then became, what form should this new feature take? A folder like customers had been suggesting?
With an eye on overall cost, we set out to solve the problem by simplifying and simplifying and simplifying again until we were left with nothing but a beautiful sheet of leather with some magnets integrated into it.
Not only would a single sheet of leather designed the right way do the job of securing the papers but the paper holder could then to used to expand the overall functionality of the Premium Leather Folio itself.
By adding en extra set of magnets outboard of the set that attaches to paper holder to the front cover of the case, we now had a place to add the Pencil Case, business card holder and cable pouch.
Solving these kinds of difficult problems in a simple and elegant way is what MacCase design is all about.

FAQ
What MacCase products do the Paper Holders work with?
The MacCase Folio Paper Holders attach to any MacCase Folio using the Magnetic Modular Accessory System (MAS). MAS-equipped Folios are identified by the circular exterior magnets set into the front panel. Compatible with 13-inch, 12.9-inch, 11-inch, and 10.9-inch MacCase Premium Leather Folios.
How many pages can the Paper Holder carry?
It varies by size and paper stock. The 10.5/11-inch Paper Holder holds 4-6 sheets. The 13-inch models hold 6-8 sheets. Standard 8.5" x 11" copy paper at normal weight. Heavier stock reduces capacity. Don't exceed the recommended limits. The more pages or the heavier the stock, the greater the chance of detachment.
Will the Paper Holder fall off my Folio?
The MacCase Folio Paper Holder has been tested under extreme conditions including a shake test and a 100-meter dash test: a fully loaded Folio (12.9" iPad Pro, Pencil Case, Paper Holder with 6 sheets, Cable Pouch with AC charger and cable, Card Holder with 10 cards) carried under the arm by college-age runners. No accessories were lost. If you plan to exceed recommended limits, do a shake test first.
Will the Paper Holder match my Folio leather?
Pebble black matches perfectly. Vintage brown may vary slightly due to natural dye lot variations—the vintage hide is raw and unfinished, and develops a unique patina over time. MacCase matches Folio and Paper Holder as closely as possible when purchased together.
