MacBook Covers
The first generation of polycarbonate clip-on MacBook cases solved one problem and created many others. A single rigid material wrapped around the laptop transferred impact energy directly to the enclosure rather than absorbing it. Hard plastic mounting pins scratched the aluminum finish over time. Solid polycarbonate blocked the ventilation slots, causing thermal throttling during sustained workloads. The corners, the highest-stress points in any drop, were the weakest part of the design because polycarbonate used this way didn't absorb impact energy, it redirected it.
MacCase watched this play out across the industry and in hosts of Reddit threads full of complaining Apple laptop owners before introducing the Hybrid MacBook Case. The solution was co-molding: polycarbonate and TPU bonded together in a single manufacturing process, each material placed where its properties are needed. Polycarbonate covers the top and bottom panels, the large flat surfaces most exposed to horizontal impacts. TPU covers the vertical edges and corners, the surfaces that absorb force in a drop. Softer TPU also forms the mounting contact points, replacing the hard plastic pins that caused finish abrasion with a material that grips without scratching. The ventilated base with raised feet maintains active airflow for the MacBook Pro's fan system and passive airflow for the MacBook Air's thermal design. Protective iPad Cases

Leather iPad Folios
Holding the iPad in the Case: The TPU Tray
Most iPad folio cases hold the tablet in place with adhesive or elastic straps. Both methods share the same failure mode: they degrade. Adhesive loses tack with heat and repeated removal. Straps stretch. MacCase leather iPad cases use a precision-molded TPU tray instead. The iPad smoothly flows into the formed tray as the soft TPU materials envelops the edges, holding it mechanically, the same way a well-made tool fits its case. The Offset Design
The second structural innovation is the offset design. The iPad sits 5mm inboard of the case edge, not flush with it as in so many competing designs. That gap is deliberate. In a drop, impact energy reaches the case edge before it reaches the iPad. The case becomes the crumple zone. The iPad's glass and aluminum enclosure are protected not by the TPU tray or padding alone but by geometry: the case absorbs the impact before it can transfer to the device. This is the same principle used in automotive crash engineering, applied to a leather iPad folio. (This is no accident. MacCase founder Michael Santoro is an multi-award-winning automotive designer).
The exterior is full or top-grain leather and stitched with contrasting, white thread. The stitching is functional as well as aesthetic. It reinforces the overall quality. Briefcase Backpack
The traditional briefcase is a horizontal box with a handle. A design that hasn't changed meaningfully in a century. It carries on one side of the body, creating an asymmetric load that fatigues the shoulder and spine over a long travel day. MacCase disrupted this with a vertically oriented briefcase design that aligns with the body's natural axis, distributing weight straight down rather than swinging it laterally. Flight Jacket
In 2008 the laptop case category had a default design: a horizontal black box with a handle or shoulder strap. MacCase broke that mold with the Flight Jacket. MacCase's second product, introduced in 1998, was a sleeve. That is nearly 30 years of sleeve design experience, more than any other Apple-specific case company. In that time MacCase has developed four distinct sleeve designs, each solving a different problem in a different way. The original 1998 MacCase Sleeve introduced the signature Apple window design that allows the Apple logo (on the laptop lid) to become part of the sleeve design. "I started MacCase because I was frustrated. The original iBook was a beautiful, colorful, joyful piece of design and the only cases available for it were boring black nylon rectangles that had nothing to do with what made the machine special. I thought: What if there was a case that was as innovative as the computer? That idea has driven every design decision we've made for nearly 30 years.
